Painted Daisies Won’t Spread in Your Flower Garden

A question was recently posed about whether the Painted Daisy spreads aggressively in the garden. The short answer is no. This plant will instead grow out more full (bushy) if you pinch back the new growth (but no more than one inch at a time). Also, make sure it’s at about 6-8 inches before you make that first pinch.

Let’s take a moment to talk about pinching. The term actually comes from the fact that gardeners use their fingers, or better yet fingernails, to pinch off the new growth at the end of the stem. Each time the main stem is removed, our Painted Daisy will try to grow two new stems beneath that pinch. She is a great addition to any garden!
