Home Alone

It’s July. My Facebook page and Instagram feed are filling up with all sorts of exciting vacation pics from family and friends! Me? I’m home alone this summer, unable to keep up with the high cost of travel. That doesn’t mean, however, that I haven’t found ways to transform my flower garden into a bit of a magical retreat where I can relax and make the most of my summer time off.

There are few inexpensive things I have done to add a little pizzaz to my garden area. First, I created some paths so that I can walk through my garden and “take time to smell the roses” or in this case “take time to smell the Sweet Alyssum“. So fragrant!

I also moved my outdoor table and chairs to an area closer to the flowers to better take in their beautiful colors. I took an older wreath that I had and laid it at the center of the table. I strung it with some of those fairy lights, so I can even enjoy this area at sunset.

Other things you could do is move a fire pit into that area or arrange to have some music playing. Both things I plan to do as the season continues on.
