I mentioned before, in a July 9 blog titled Midsummer Maintenance, that it’s important to deadhead certain flowers that bloom early in the spring. An example of this was the Shasta Daisy. It’s hard to find the time to provide this extra care to some of our flowers, but I wanted to show you a picture of what the plant will look like if the deadheading isn’t done. Deadheading is as simple as removing dead flower heads from your plant to encourage further blooming.
In the case of the picture below, look at how many more blooms would have been there come late July or August. I just snapped this picture August 9.
