Unique Locations for Gardens That Were Missed

Yesterday, I posted some pictures of neighbors who used unique locations in their yards to plant their “gardens”. Today, I’m going to post a few pics where others missed opportunities to turn browned out or dead spaces into colorful mini gardens for everyone to enjoy!

First, here’s a family who missed an opportunity to brighten up their mailbox. As you can see from the picture, the grass immediately surrounding it is brown anyway, so why not dig that up and plant some Blue Flax seeds. They would get full sun in that location and provide some real color.

Next, those pesky corners can be a problem when growing grass. This family placed rocks there, but why not finish the job and plant some Chinese Forget Me Not Seeds. They grow quickly in the drier soil of the rocks and thrive in the full sun this spot provides.

Then there is this large space that is a missed opportunity for the city. They could have planted a multitude of differently colored flowers here to add beauty to this entire area. Instead, it looks pretty desolate for all of us out walking on one of these warm summer days. Any flower that thrives in full sun and doesn’t require constant watering would be perfect here.

Lastly, I have to add one more pic of a “taken” opportunity (because it includes my dog, Annie). This is the corner portion of our neighbor’s lawn where it was hard to keep bikes, kids and dogs off of. They planted some Lupine Perennials in the front and it’s just magic.

Again, next year, let’s all get our creative thinking caps on and use all the empty spaces we can find to get our flower seeds planted in!
