Description
These spectacular flowers are a towering spike of color to include red, yellow, blue, pink or white in either solids or bi-colored flowers. They grow up to 18 inches. Being an early season perennial, it may take a year after planting to offer it’s delightful blooms, which open up from the bottom, moving upward.
This perennial puts on a spectacular display of color year after year. The flowers are perfect as cut flowers in a vase and make an interesting addition to flower arrangements.
The Russell Lupine will bring butterflies and hummingbirds from far and wide to its huge blooms. The flowers open from the bottom first, gradually opening along most of the foot-tall bloom spikes. These flowers started as meadow wildflowers, so they are easy to grow and hardy under most conditions. They will thrive in either full sun or partial shade. They require little care, though they do prefer rich soil. The occasional fertilizer will keep them growing and nourished. They make great border plants or flowers for the back row of a flower bed.

While this flower is beautiful outdoors, it is one of the prettiest flowers that can be cut and placed in a vase indoors. I love the long stems with the flowers flowing up and down the stem!!
